Dear parents and staff:

It’s hard to believe, but the third marking period has arrived! By the time you read this Punxsutawney Phil will be preparing to crawl out of his hole … and with any luck, he will not see his shadow!

During this time, we begin to set our sights on spring and the upcoming elections – yes, it’s time to once again to vote for the school budget for the upcoming year and for members of the Board of Education. If you are not a registered voter, visit the Bergen County Board of Elections Web page at www.co.bergen.nj.us/paboe/votereg.htm for information and a voter registration form.

On March 11, there will be an evening Federated HSA meeting at 7:30 at Hamilton School. Federated HSA meetings are attended by Dr. Verducci and the school principals. The 2010-2011 proposed school budget will be presented. Please attend so that you can make an informed decision when you vote.

If you were not able to attend the December 14 Board of Education meeting, please see Dr. Verducci’s presentation, “Envisioning the Future.”

It seems that December was ages go, but thank you to our Holiday Staff Luncheon organizers, Patrice Hansen and Kevinann Kitchen, along with all the volunteers that provided refreshments. Thank you also to Melissa Farfalla and her team of volunteers who brought Bagel Day to the middle school on early dismissal days  — it was much appreciated by the students — and Gail Neumann, Wendy Tuhy, Chris Moloney, Sue Kushnir and Lori Liberti for chaperoning the Middle School Dance.

▪ Eighth grade parents meeting on February 24 regarding the upcoming D.C. trip and to hear important information from Guidance about GRHS.

▪ Middle School Canteen on March 5.

▪ Middle School Spring Dance on March 19.

▪ High School Spring Theatre Festival from March 18-20.

Please join us at our HSA meeting at 7:30 p.m. February 2 in the Media Center. If you’ve never been to an HSA meeting, it’s a great opportunity to hear first-hand from Mr. McCarthy and Mr. Thompson and have your questions answered.
